Something interesting about the word "fiat."

Fiat. I have only come across this weird word in two uses/contexts:

(1)  in the Bible where God decrees “Fiat Lux,” which means "There shall be light"; and

(2)  to describe a government-issued currency not backed by any physical commodity.

Fiat is Latin for "let it be done."

It is an authoritative decree of the highest order, given by one in total command.

What an all-powerful word... for a dollar.

Most human activity has been rooted in the pursuit of these decreed units...
which were positioned as high and vital, as light itself.

Sure, it could get nice things, and even "pay to keep the lights on"...
​but it never was light. Seems wise to keep that sorted.

Fiat Lux.
