It's Beautiful Inside: An Introvert's Right To Be.

4/20/2015

"The true last unexplored frontier is inner space, of each of us. We start exploring inside and say: "I don't care what I find. Whatever I find will be good, whatever I find will be real and authentic." That's when we really change things." Glenn Beck, on the Tim Ferriss Show (<--- CLICK TO LISTEN).

Culture is a huge imposition on our free will. Customs, traditions + expectations are deep grooves in our trained brain to behave and pursue such-and-such ACCORDING TO SOCIAL NORMS.

One day I stopped and thought about how much power I have given to social norms. I deferred to them as if they were actually useful or fun. They are mostly a sign of disabled imagination.

So from our earliest days — after being born into stress and captivity — we are hammered with "the rules of life." Decorum. Etiquette. False politeness.

And the thing we want most, is to simply be ourselves. Yes, let's be that!

I just downloaded an "Introvert's Right to Be". I received a Kindle Fire for my birthday, last month but am only now getting around to figuring out how to use it.

Hope all is well!

Finished reading an "Introvert's Right to Be" earlier this week.

I enjoyed learning about the "Cleansing Sun Meditation" and have incorporated it into my meditative practice.

I also enjoyed learning about your introvert-ic journey and evolution, although I admit to being less familiar with the holistic possibilities of cannabis.

Thanks for sharing your insights in this essay!

The question "How are you?" is PROFOUND.

But it has been watered-down to a synonym for "Hello."

Forced or fake auto-responses of obligated okay-ness are expected.

(And if you are going through something tragic, it really doesn't matter! Every social encounter OPENS with this well-established Ritual of Insincerity.)

The question "How are you?" prompts an answer that begins with "I AM _____________."

This means many times each day, you are invited to SPEAK THE MOST POWERFUL STATEMENT that can be spoken of yourself.

And the socially-expected thing to do, is be QUICK + SLICK with your answer.

For a change... TAKE YOUR TIME, and tell your truth.
