REASON #1:
heightened sensitivity + Awareness
There are 7.6 billion people on Earth at this writing. Of those, 20% are born with highly refined nervous systems which influence many aspects of their personality and worldview.
1.5 billion people worldwide process things more deeply. Many suffer unnecessary socialized shame because they do not know this vital piece of neurological information about themselves.
There are a number of reasons that some people are more innately sensitive -- more perceptive and aware -- than others. Neurological. Emotional. Psychological. Spiritual. Physical. Traumatic. Dramatic. Giftedness. Affliction. And depending on how we have ordered our reality, we know and call these reasons by different names, like:
Empathic. Autistic. Psychic. Intuitive. Loser. Genius. Freak. Wizard. All kind of words.
And none of them matter as much as how we learn to live WELL with the extra loads of data and stimulation we receive.
I believe one benefit of having a sensitive nervous system, is that it helps the us bring through a different way of being... a sure departure from the rude, crude, violent, mind-numbing ways that have dominated our norms, despite them being so ecologically and psychologically destructive.
Isn't it plausible that people with sensitive nervous systems were neurologically wired to respond to our planet's call -- from bellies, to business, to biosphere? Are we not innately inclined to bring forward many of the virtues showing weakly in our culture... things like tenderness, generosity, empathy, kindness, forgiveness, joy... virtues that are still often mistaken for weakness, when they are actually what we most need.
I will be your sounding board, and/or dispenser of tips, hacks, and strategies for thriving as a sensitive soul in this harsh, but malleable world. Whatever is most helpful for you, is what happens.
REASON #2:
social Dissatisfaction
Honesty has tragically become an UN-learned behavior. We are born absolutely truthful beings, and get socially conditioned into using more and more diluted forms of honest communication, until lying becomes habitual/normative and honesty becomes perceived as rude/impolite.
We've been socialized backwards... and it accounts for a lot of our personal tension and suffering. We've been trained to wear a happy-mask, over depression. We mismanage pain, with socially-acceptable addictions and chronic avoidance. We are half-hearted in our conversations about mental/emotional health, transcendence, intimacy, and other taboo topics that are at the core of being human.

The simple Need to be Deeply heard
We live in selfie-nation.
Many lives revolve around social media, which is the height of "Look at me! Look at me!"
And that is because our need to be seen and heard is something we don't outgrow.
It's not just for children -- the desire to be witnessed, reflected, and focused upon. It is soul-nourishing to have attention directed at you that is intelligent, unhurried, non-judgmental, and truly in favor of your well-being. I listen to you, lavishly.

Who Am I To OFFER EMPATHIC CONSULTATIONS?
Many years ago, I was formally trained, and practiced, as a resident end-of-life (hospice) chaplain at Duke University Medical Center. That was remarkable work, but so is journeying with people who have decided against death... which includes self-deceit, self-sabotage, and other unkind things we do to ourselves.
Creating harmony between the truth inside you, and the resistant-in-some-way world outside you, IS EVERYTHING. It's The Path your feet most want to walk.
There are laws, traditions, opinions, taboos, traumas, mean people, and your own personal nuttiness (said with affection) that all whirl together to block, tire and discourage you. To punk you. To bully you into unwanted compliance that makes you grumble, but not much more.
Well, turns out, that grumble has a gas tank! I figured out how to use the deep discontent I once had, as fuel to change it. Slowly. Too slowly. Which is the "why" behind my urgency that sometimes surprises people. The urgency in me is here to help. 💙
