There are more than 7 billion people on Earth. Of those, 20% are born with highly refined nervous systems that influence many aspects of their personality and worldview. 62 million Americans -- 1.4 billion people worldwide -- process things more deeply. Many suffer unnecessary socialized shame because they do not know this vital piece of neurological information about themselves.
I believe our nervous systems have been wired for us to bring forth a different kind of leading, and a different kind of living... a radical departure from the rude, crude, violent, mind-numbing ways that have dominated our norms, despite them being so ecologically and psychologically destructive.
I believe highly sensitive people are neurologically wired to respond to our planet's call -- from business to biosphere -- to step forward and bring forth many missing virtues from our culture... things like tenderness, compassion, empathy, benevolence, collaboration, inspiration, joy... virtues that have been confused for weakness, but are actually needed in every realm of our lives.
I have a clear vision of the innate trait of sensitivity fueling the most gorgeous outpouring of social transformation and personal bliss for the person who says, "Yes!" to this role, reward and responsibility.
I see the connection between heightened sensitivity and social transformation, and seeing that connection moves me to serve Sensitives, and help you feel and live from that connection, too.

Some reviews from Amazon.com
"Erika is a young woman who has moved beyond the need to fit into the dominant culture, and in her essay, she calls on the other sensitives among us to do the same; to listen to our inner knowing, to understand that our calling is not in the dominant culture but in our own sensitivity. A neurological, not an emotional, sensitivity that may be an evolutionary development essential for the survival of our race and our planet. This is a smooth easy read if you have considered these elements before; if you haven't, it will be revolutionary. The most positive view of sensitivity I have read to date. Thank you Erika, your voice is a breath of fresh air in an overly hyper, polluted world." (Rosie Hirst)
"Erika Harris is a visionary (probably before her time) -- like a starburst passionately leading us back to the heart of what really matters! This essay will inspire you to stand tall, speak out and let your sensitive voice, heart and light shine for the betterment of your own community, and then the world at large. She explains how we HSPs -- highly sensitive people -- can and must act now to make a difference, and this book will help you along the way." (Jacquelyn Strickland)
"Well-written and concise empath manifesto. The POWER of Your Intense Fragility, builds empaths up by encouraging them to see their sensitivities as a gift not a curse. Erika empowers us to take those gifts and to take action out in the world. I have read many books on empathy and have perused many sensitive and empath message boards, and was impressed to read about some tools and analogies that I have never encountered before. I look forward to more from this author." (PHprism)
"I read 'The POWER of Your Intense Fragility' in one sitting. I know Erika Harris, the author, well enough to know she is a gifted writer and has fierce integrity and passion for empowering sensitive souls. This book was still a surprise to me. There is a unique synthesis of love, intelligence, power, empathy, passion and deep resonance in her words that really connected to me and my life experience on so many levels. This is one powerful, timely, era-defining tribute of an essay that reaches far and wide into the often unseen and unspoken experience of many people on this planet with a unique perception of life. This essay honours those who have felt like the misfits and outcasts. 'The POWER of Your Intense Fragility' redefines sensitivity as a modern superpower and shines light upon those here to help create a revolution of empathy and exquisite awareness of the layers of life. Read it, share it, remember it. This essay is a game changer!" (Kimberley Jones)
